Yoga Classes

Our yoga classes focus around the philosophy and tradition of Tantra and Hatha Yoga.  Often misrepresented in the mainstream through sexuality, Tantra is actually rooted in science and aimed at expanding awareness in all states of consciousness by connecting us to our true self.  Tantra focuses on working with energy to attain awareness, the ultimate goal of yoga practice. By refining our thoughts and feelings, we can create peace, happiness and harmony within ourselves.  At Underground Studios, the student will learn the science and philosophies that will enable them to release unconscious blockages, transform personal limitations and reach their inner awareness, leading to true happiness.   

Basics

Basics classes are focused on creating a foundation for beginner yogis. 

Each class is unique and conducted in a workshop style to allow students to ask questions, try out postures, learn and practice breathing techniques and receive focused attention from the instructor. 

Like all of our classes, the Basics class will include a warm-up, standing postures, floor series, breathing and meditation.  When you are ready to move to the flow class, you will have experienced much of what the more advanced classes entail.

The atmosphere will allow you to learn more than just the technique of a posture; you will walk away with tools that will help you to live a fuller, more auspicious life.

 

Flow

Flow classes are open to all levels; however, it is highly suggested that the student take 10 to 12 beginner classes or 4 to 8 private sessions in order to develop a foundation for Flow.

The structure of the classes vary slightly, but all classes start with a warm-up and include a standing series and a floor series, including Savasana (resting pose) at the end of each class, and often include short meditations.  The instructor provides detailed instructions for each of the postures that are taught, as well as modifications for students practicing at different levels.  While a strong emphasis is placed on breathing during the postures, breathing practices will also be taught separately. 

Each class is meant to be a unique experience for the student.  Hatha flow will enliven your body, ease your mind, and reconnect your body, mind, and spirit.

 

Personal Training

At Underground Studios, we take a holistic approach to personal training. 

By combining the concepts of fitness and wellness, we encompass both body and mind, optimizing our clients’ ability to reach their customized fitness goals and create a manageable plan to maintain them. 

We strive to bring about a sense of awareness in our clients, helping them to see the bigger picture when it comes to their health and their bodies. 

Personal training should go beyond simply looking better or lifting as much weight as possible; our sessions will instead center on a balance, using resistance training, yoga, emphasis of breath and proper nutrition to achieve paramount results.  At Underground Studios, we want you to feel as good as you look- healthier, stronger and more energetic!

Private Yoga

The practice of yoga is deeply personal and was developed to focus on self enlightenment and individual growth.

For many, developing a personal yoga practice is the key to living a healthy and balanced life, safely and effectively working through obstacles and thriving in the present moment.

At Underground Studios, we offer private yoga sessions for students of all levels who wish to develop a personal practice, broaden their skills or learn basic poses while developing an understanding of the principals and philosophies that guide a yogic lifestyle. 

Whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced yogi, the benefits of creating a personal practice are an invaluable investment.  Private sessions will combine all aspects of yoga - asana (postures), pranayama (breath with retention) and meditation- and in just one session can deeply impact your ever-growing practice.
